After Serving Divorce
Draft , Spouse  Killed
SOURCE: DAILY NEWS (1-12-07)
A  former model killed at her home
on E 84th St in April 2005 may have
been fatally stabbed by her
husband upon whom she had
served divorce settlement papers.
During testimony at a trial in
Manhattan Criminal Court, Jenny
Kramer , mother of victim Christine
Odierno, said that her daughter
feared for her life afterwards. " He
told me he's going to kill me,
Mom!", said the victim according to
her mother account. "He went
bananas".
Prosecutors said that Benjamin
Odierno,72, had a"long-simmering
rage" against Mrs. Odierno, who
was at the kitchen when the
confrontation occurred. They also
affirm that she pointed at her
husband as the attacker moments
before dying. "My husband did
this", she said, according to Kerry
O'Connell, prosecutor of the case.
NYPD Finest Liar?
Traffic Agent Arrested
For Fake Tickets
SOURCE: METRO/JRM (05-24-06)
Queens District Attorney in New
York City says that NYPD Traffic
Enforcement Agent Nivea Cloud,
was issuing summonses while
sitting in her NYC vehicle in a
handicapped space. The problem
was not that the officer was not
occupying an area reserved for
disabled drivers but that this
finest NYPD agent wrote 27
parking tickets at seven different
locations in three hours on May 12.
Cloud faces up to four years in jail
if convicted of writing bogus
tickets and other charges.
Yesterday she was brought in
front of a judge and formally
charged of official misconduct. For
the address of 37-06 Broadway
alone, Officer Cloud,30,
issued as many as six summonses
for vehicles allegedly parked in
violation.
NY Costly Parking &
Delivery Companies
SOURCE: NY POST (09-01-06)
Many courier companies such as
Federal Express, DHL, UPS are
being forced to pay costly fines
for parking in prohibited area in
New York City, specially in
Manhattan. Their drivers get
about 7,000 parking tickets per
day. In order to cope with all
these summonses the City and
the delivery companies have
agreed on a plan that dismisses
or reduces the tickets if the
company waives its right to
contest them.
So far this program has saved $1
million to the City and avoided
over 770,000 ticket hearings.
Though these companies are
saving by participating in the
program, the parking violation
tab is still high. However many
see it as the "cost of doing
business in a large city"
